I am considering getting a pump uprage for my 14g nano. For flow i think i want a spliter and on one end the hydor flow wavemaker and on the other side put on the circle flow assembly. So here are my questions. A) For a pump upgrade i want maxi jet 900 because i am afraid the 1200 will blow over the rock. Which 1? B) Is it woth getting the circle flow assembly? looks like a great idea but it may be too bulky, your opinions please. C) do i need those stupid pliers to put on/remove the loc-line? I have no idea so all help is appreciated.

I didn't use a pair of pliers for my loc line. I just used a twisting push method. VERY scientific. The Hydorflow is the best thing ever. I looooove mine. I am not sure about this circle flow method, elaborate a little on what that is.

well what it is a 12 inch long loc line apparatus. On each piece of loc-line there is a small tube sticking out the side. And if you shape the circle flow like a "U" shape it would create a current that surrounds the tank. I will draw a pic and post it.

you can rotate each piece of loc line on the apparatus to put flow up or down, or make the u shape straight line or more curved. Looks good but it may be a little bulky in a 14g.

I would say a little too bulky unless you can put it RIGHT on the water line pointing down a little at the same time, then maybe not. If you do half of it pointing towards the front of tank it really would have the same effect as far as water return from hitting walls and redirecting itself. Great idea though
Also keep in mind the more outlets you have the weaker each individual flow will be.

yeah, the last piece of loc-line is lpugged o the flow is evenly distributed through each mini nozzle. You can only get 12 pieces or somethin like that.

I am going to use the hydor flow wavemaker. No spliter or anything else. What pump should i get? maxi jet 900 or 1200?

I would say the 1200, I have a 900 running on mine and everyday I think...sheesh wish I had a 1200 on that. A 900 will work FINE but when it was the only thing I had running as far as powerheads are concerned I wanted a bit more flow.

I have the exact same tank with MJ1200. The water current is strong, but my anemones love it! And I do not have the problem with sand at all (powerhead facing right to the front). One thing you need to be aware of is that since MJ1200 has very high gph, that also means it will suck in more water in the 3rd chamber than MJ900. The air bubbles came out so often that you would not be happy. This problem is solved when having my chiller installed (water goes out from the 1st chamber with the original pump I replaced with MJ1200, and returns into the 3rd chamber).
Several problems you might want to know about bio-cube 14:
1) excess heat from the light (mine was 85~91F constantly...) -- solved by installing chiller
2) air bubbles produced when using MJ1200 -- solved by having water returned from chiller
3) powerhead replacement is hard to find (I cannot find the splitter that can fit the original hole, still looking for solutions
4) external refugium is almost impossible without drilling holes on your tank
p.s. MJ1200 WILL fit in the 3rd chamber. Just need to take time to adjust the angle of the motor.
