I need help picking between Emporer Filters

i have a 58g and i have a 400 people say it should work well for that size, my LFS, but i might get another filter just to be sure ;)

I have the 400 in 55gl however if you dont have a lot of lr you will also need a sand filter for the bacteria to gro

As long as you dont pack your 55 the emporer 400 will work good. I used one for awhile and was pleased with it.

get the 400, it will be plenty by itself, teh 280 may be sufficient, maybe
but....
the 400 adds one other benefit, more circulation you want to have 550 gph circulation in your tank, MINIMUM, most reefers eventually end up getting 20x (which would be 1100 gph), so the added circ. will be an added bonus by itself, you can achieve teh other circ by adding powerheads, and also if you have a skimmer that will add to it

Oh yeah, Thor, if you are adding powerheads dsb and lr(even if later on), as we discussed earlier I would save teh money for your lr or something else, the extra 400 would be more money than benefit to you

i wasnt going to get another 400 i meant i might get a small skimmer (i know its not filtration, i just couldnt think of what there called at the moment)
so i could get lr :eek:

On a 55 I would actually go wih 2 280s. On a four foot tank one filter is just not enough but two work out quite well.
