My tank has been setup since jan. 15. I accli. the snails for about 45 min. before I put them in. They lived for about a week or so. I think that I found out why they die now. My lfs told me a pack of crap and I thought they knew what they where doing but they don't. They told me that a hydrometer reading of about 1.021 was good. I know now that it should be 1.024. And that a hydrometer isn't a good way to measure salt level. As far as copper I did use copper safe about 6 weeks ago. I think I'm finally getting the right answers now from all of you guys. :joy:

This is most likely the problem right here...along with the low SG. Inverts cannot handle any copper...this includes corals. How much did you use and for how long? If it was for a full week or so...this tank may be ruined for ever keeping inverts unless you change out everything. You might try a polyfilter..it can remove the copper. Another red flag I see is the use of iodine...stop adding this now. First, never dose what you do not test for. Second ...tests for iodine are innacurate and overdosing it is quite easy...you can kill things this way as well. Water changes replenish iodine..no need to add it.

As for filtration...well personally I would aim for a better skimmer and more LR first and foremost.

Well the copper issue was a bad mistake on my part, and only dosed it once. I haven't put iodine in for about two weeks. When things started getting bad I stopped everything but the cal. I have a poly bag in right now (see I'm learning) and I have a needle wheel Super Skimmer on it's way. I also have 2 maxflo powerheads on their way.
Oh yeah, I forgot Tangey is shipping me 35 lbs more rock 4 my 55 gal.
