I feel really dumb for doing this. I thought it would be okay untill I hung it.
Well, I won the 250w mh pendent at macna and decided to use it by putting it in the middle on top of the center glass brace. I just came home to this. :scared:
I cant beleive I did this.
Please help. What should I do? How can I fix this? :help:
I have another 55 tank that has been empty and cycled for about a month and a half that could tranfer everything to.

Why do you need the glass? It isnt part of the brace. If you are hanging your lights anyway than take out the glass altogether. Just take out the glass and replace it with eggcrate. If you do want glass make sure you buy glass meant for a saltwater tank because it will have less iron in it.

I'd get a piece of 1/4 inch glass cut to the same size, sand the edges. Coat the busted piece with silicon and sandwich the new piece on top of it.

I believe from his description that he has a tank with a center brace made of glass.

yeah, the center brace is glass. the glass looks like its about to fall apart. Should I still Try to get another glass and sillicon it together or take off the broken glass and replace the glass brace?

Yeah the other pictures show more... yeah I'd just replace the whole thing.
Get the exact measurement before taking it apart. Then take one of the chards to a glass shop and get them to give you a new piece of the same stuff. Be sure to have them sand the edges so it's not sharp.

You'll need to go to a glass shop. No home improvement store will carry glass this thick.
As for the plastic piece, I'd leave it as it, and silicon the new piece of glass to it. That should hold.

Well... if it's siliconed in, you can cut the silicon with a razor knife... I guess the best I can tell you is look at the situation carefully and use your best judgement.

alright... get like 2 three foot 2X4's and set them across the top of thw tank. like this
1 1 1 1
_____1 1_____1 1______
_____1 1_____1 1______
1 1 1 1
the 1's being the 2X4's and them set the light on top of them.
