i am about to purchase my 1st digital camera mostly for this hobby, and would like to get some input from the people who take pictures of what i intend to do with the camera instead of some salesperson just trying to make a sale. i know i have seen some incredible pictures from you all and would like to find out what type of camera, ease of operation, what you like and don't like about it, and i would like to be able to take those pictures of up close and personal pictures for id purposes, and if possible post a couple of your favorite pictures taken with your camera thanks for your time tobin :happyfish

a similar price and style of camera is the Canon S2is or its newer versions.
they are the semi pro type cameras, just under the Rebel EOS line which are 1k+.

yeah the slr's are great, but at $1000 or more for cam and lense, they remain a little pricey for most folks
