i need to know

i've recently went fishing in ca. and i found this purple star fish that i would like to keep but do not know the proper way to dry him out to preserve him and the smell is getting worst , i want to give him to my wife for her birthday ,and i've got another question, how do i preserve a shovelhead shark so that i may put him in my shell case :help: :help: :help:

You're not going to get much help here.
Personally I am ok with eating seafood. I don't think any people at all here, however, are going to be comfortable with killing animals for just for decorations.
Both the Starfish and Sharks are species that need to be protected as they play vital roles in the marin ecosystem.

I don't know about the starfish but the shark has no scales. You can't preserve those so leave them in the water alive. If I wanted to give my wife a starfish it would be alive in my tank. If I wanted a dead one maybe take a picture of a live one and give it to her. :cheer:

Nope they aren't. They are rare in the northern states. But they are doing fairly well over all. I would send you a link to read up on them, but as you know you can't do a link to google much less a resource page.
