Ahh don't worry about him. See what happens when you get to be a old man. You get crabby when dealing with youngsters. Hey I'm 25 but I'm probably just a youngster who isn't up to date on things. LOL :D

I have history what history?what history the regal you know nothing about why dont you guys get off my back about that he was going to be in there for a month and i talked to fshhub extensly.fshhub told me to get a 75 or 90 gallon and I did 2 weeks after i got him I got the 75 and no i was going to keep him in there as far as the fixtures go there on form half in hour just for me to view they are waterproofed and set 6 inches above the water and im using stainless steel ceiling boxes to hold them so before you talk about my history and flaming please talk to me first in said of inferring on what im going to do.Im 15 so i cant get MH or the greatest lighting of just regular 50-90 dollar moonlights I have to improvise and I talk to fshhub during the day and for 3-4 hours at night on Yahoo messneger. The lights i have in my hood are going to stay except the power-glo which will be replaced by 2 10k VHO lamps thanks for the compliments to the people that didnt try and flame me.And where did the regal even come in to play here??????

Looks good Logan - you keep improving - wish I had the time/energy to think up stuff like that..... may steal your idea and get a little red light to mount into my canopy ....
Need to see some pics with the red lights on!!!

thanks dvskin
the red lights just stay on for a while and with a flashlight if you move to fast you scare the animals thats why i like the lights. And all the lights you see are built by mean not store bought or bought from any online stores i built it all.

looks good logan. hopefully you dont have any problems with this solution to the night viewing problem. nice clean installation at any rate.
one thought though, if you are going to post 15 times in the same thread, you might consider compacting your signature a bit... makes for a lot of scrolling, or instead of posting back to back three times, maybe edit in what you want to add to cut down on the length :p
looking good, its great to see someone else working on a budget having so much fun in the hobby.
and i gotta say, logan asked people to tell him what they really thought. this thread did not get ugly until other folks interjected their thoughts on peoples opinions. logan has done a great job of working advice into his tanks... hearing that there might be some other concerns from some of the boards moderators might be important information. even if someone's opinion is based on what you consider to be less than the entire story, that dialog should really take place between them and logan to keep these kind of arguments back and forth out of an informational thread.

please talk to me first instead of inferring on what im going to do.
THIS STATEMENT IS IN NO WAY DIRECTED AT ANY ONE PARTICULAR INDIVIDUAL, AND PERTAINS TO THREADS OUTSIDE OF THIS ONE AS WELL.
I have noticed this on many occasions, far too many people on this board jump to conclsions and get awfully upset before they know the whole situation. I think logan has offered some advise that many people here can take here.
Logan,
That is a pretty mature statement for a 15 year old. Keep up the good work with the tank!

Logan has a good idea and put it to use. I think some people on the board should loosen your shoe laces. All kinds of bad alge and blah blah blah, I think most should have asked him what his intentions are before making ASSumptions and then give him your thoughts. MY.02
GOOD IDEA:)

Take Care,
Graham

actually, he got the tang with he intention of getting a 125, but parents would not let him, so he started shopping for a 75/90. Which he was in the process fo setting up.
followed up with the fact that the regal did NOT die from being cooped up, look at its size, but b/c many regal/hippo tangs do not survive well as tiny fish in shipping. However, he is looking at a more reasonable inhabitant for the new 75 gallon, one that would do fine in a 75, IMEO.
I think everyone should lightne up a bit, he does chat with me alot, and being 15, he DOES listen well, when asked a q. He may not have a high budget, bc of only being 15, but tries real hard to deal with waht he has. And is now trying to do it right. I jsut have to agree with the others ehre.
He is trying, and wants help. He is taking things into consideration when stocking this tank. He is also slightly ingenious, the red lights are actually a good idea, if he only intends ot flip them on when he goes hunting. Although porcelain fixtures, and although not water tight, it is a clever idea. If he intends to leave them on, then he IS asking for trouble, yes, but I am pretty sure none of us know either way, however form his description, I would have to assume that a 'red critter lamp' is jsut that, not regular lighting.
Although, I do not condone putting regals in small tanks, at least he is trying and had bought the tang NOT with the intention to upgrade, but with the actual upgrade in the works. 12 inch regal may have deserved a little mention, but a 1 incher for a few weeks?? C'mon guys cut the kid some slack. Moving them is not always good, but at least he was not going to try and keep it in the 75.
yes, more lighting is needed, but on my budget, I cannot afford to put together a whole 75 reef in one pay week(tank, light, rock, stock, skimmer and so on) and he is not saying I will do this later, but every week or 2 he goes and makes a move on this stuff, which many of us have said we would do more than one time in the past.

I am not going to mention any names, but just want to say one thing, so that we all(or at least one of us) can remember what it is like or was like, we all need a little slack, don't we?
the interested party, should not only understand, but should also concede and give credit where it is due.
With that said, all that I should have to say is:
"How is that sponge and those 5$ lights work?, the ones with the wrong bulbs form Home Depot" not for nite viewing, but to raise corals with
Now, i don't want to bring up any bad karma just to remind us that we all deserve a break, so there is no need to respond, just agree silently. AND let it be.
;)

House bulbs have plenty of light to grow hair algae. I assumed, yes assumed, he was going to use them like moonlights and leave them on all night.........more importantly....make sure they are sealed....I have even had supposedly "waterproof" endcap connections catch on fire, and it is a SERIOUS subject. Just trying to help. Water got past the water tight seal on this endcap.

Luckily.....I was home, smelled smoke, and stopped this in time......there was flames, and I also have a wood canopy....serious stuff. I just wanted to be sure he had them sealed GOOD because they are not meant for aquariums or use around water, and even some that are fail. It's not all about......"who has the most expensive stuff"........I was a kid once....I still think people should use the proper equipment. EVER SEE ME MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT HOMEMADE SKIMMERS, OVERFLOWS, BASEROCKS, OR ANY OTHER WAY TO SAVE MONEY OTHER THAN LIGHTING?????? it's dangerous stuff, and fires do happen. Save money fine, but I would prefer lighting designed for use around water. My advice is to save money in just about everyway possible aside from lighting......unless buying used aquarium lights to save money. I won't even use NO strip lights without having them sealed from water......they never fail to put a charge into the water eventually because the ends are poorly sealed.
