I really didn't think they need AC!

Well I ususally kept my tank at 82 degrees. I know it should be kept at 79. But any ways I can't afford a chiller. I put the AC that was in my room, in the living room, for the corals. I leave it on all day and turn it off at night! In the morning the water temp is very hot round 86 plus... WILL MY CORALS SURVIVE THE HOT TEMPS??? FOR HOW LONG??? My light bill is gonna sky rocket if I leave all night! Any suggestions on keeping it cool???

Remove glass tops if you are using them, add fans to the canopy . This will increase evaporation, but cool the water. Temperature fluctuation is actually worse than particular temperatures. 82 is fine for a reef tank, but it needs to be as consistent as possible. 86 is a little on the hot side.

If your lights are too close to the water you definitley want to move them up as well!

It's been in the upper 90's here in NJ and my cheap Wallymart fan that I have blowing across the top of the tank has kept the temp at around 81 - 82. Saves on the cost of running the ac when nobody is home.
