Ok, Now I'm a saltwater newb, but I would have to venture that maybe using your power heads to oxygenate your water is te way to go. If you allow your power heads to pull air into the tank? But as I said, I don't really know for sure.
Glad that helped!

Good job SouthOats! . In SW you do not want bubbles of any kind in the main tank. No air pumps or PH pulling air. The easiest way is to have an open top with some water movment breaking the surface. Either the returns or a PH to provide ripples does just fine for gas exchange.
Besides that a skimmer does nothing but put air in the water.
What kind of FW tanks you keep?
Tim
In SW its harder to keep the bubbles (Micros) out of your DT.

Yes I do keep freshwater, lots of it!! I'm venturing into SW for the second time after the first time was a poorly informed attempt.
I keep African Cichlids, New world Cichlids, TONS of Bettas (I breed them, lots of them), Killifish, Any and all kinds of cats, and I have kept livebearers in the past, as well as some of the more agressive fish that get entirely too large, AKA Tank busters!
Oh! It's A Girl! LMAO!
OK, so NO PH pulling air into the tank (makes a mental note of that), only use surface agitation or a Skimmer for that. Is that right? Why are Micro bubbles so prominent in SW tanks? Does it have anything to do with the Salinity of the tank? Or is that just because of the high water movement?
Ok, Hijacking of thread over! Sorry 'bout that!

If you don't know what you're doing stop adding livestock. We, meaning myself and others told you guys this 1 1/2 to 2 months ago. I know you really want these tanks...however you need to get a good book, some test equipment of your own and read.
Stop letting the LFS sell you anything they want.
