I am currently high bidder on a Mag 24 pump. I just realized it is too powerful for my 55g. I was thinking of splitting it into several outlet, but might still too powerful. At $30 don't think i will win, but if i do, maybe keep it for future large tank. what you think a Mag 24 for a 55g?

Thats 2,400 gallons and hour, i would say the smallest tank that pump would work on is a 240G and larger is better. If you hook that pump to a 55 there will be 55Gallons of water on the floor.

Maybe if you had the sump in the garage!
Of course there are other things you could have a big pump on...

if you happen to win it
place a sell on the classified forum, some one else have a bigger tank may look into it.

Mag 24 is way to powerful for that tank! I just purchased a Mag 12 and Mag 18 for my 180, and theres alot of current in there, but not too much. Either trade in the tank for a bigger one or the Mag for a smaller one. But you honestly can't beat that price, if you end up getting it, I'd keep it for future use. Good Luck

Yeah, if you get a Mag 2400 for $30, I would just keep it, that's a steal if it's in good shape. I actually got a good price on one, and it's running on my 75. I have it split to 2 returns, one is running my UV, and it will soon feed my refuge and a chemical chamber module on top of that. It is throttled WAY down right now because my Lifereef overflow only handles 700gph :) When I get my tank drilled this summer, I will double the turnover.

yeah, i didnt realized its a 2400gph pump. Well.....if any of you have a larger tank and want to get a Mag 24, please outbid me on ----. :D :D
The seller started most items at 99cent, her last mag 24 got bid and sold around $60, so was a Iwaki pump. I got a new 24" pc retro at $80 for my coming nano reef. Take a look on ---- if you are interested! <img src="graemlins//silly.gif" border="0" alt="[silly]" />

Hey H2O. Is the retro setup a dual 55 watt with one daylight and one actinic bulb that ended for $81.00? If so you went just a little higher on your bid than I wanted to go on my bid for it. Not too many PC retros on there anymore, mostly full light strips. Might see ya at the next auction! :D
