I am still running the via aqua 150w heater as well as the visitherm. Since I recently installed a touch screen programable thermstat to our house, It keeps the temp lower during the day while me and my wife are at work. It has affected the preformance of my Via-Aqua heater. The ambiant temprature drops about 20 degrees less than the aquarium at times.

I would start to watch for a nitrate spike and be prepared for a couple of water changes just in case. Temps that high certainly killed off many of the creatures living in your liverock and as they begin to decompose you may have some issues, good luck and welcome back to the hobby.

Agree. Temp controller just makes using a heater so much safer.

visi-therm stealth is pretty much the most reliable heater out there right now. I would invest in a controller if you are worried. That way if a heater sticks again the controller will be a backup and turn it off.
