You can go back to IE7 but I would not recomend it. There are allot of browser specific attacks against IE. If you did want to switch back just download IE7 from Microsoft and install it. If you don't like IE8 I recomend Firefox or Chrome as an alternate browser.
P.s My degree is in Sytems Security so I am not trying to blow anit microsoft stuff at you.

Which version of windows are you running? I know Vista has a system restore where you can take the computer back to the time before you did the update.
Start
Programs
Accessories
System tools
System restore
It gives you a calander so you can pick a date you want to go back to.

That's really strange. I've found IE to be as fast or faster than IE7 on the systems I have upgraded it on.

Usually that doesn't work too well with programs that have been uninstalled.

i don't like firefox for some reason. I like being able to click and get an extra tab.
i'm not sure why ie8 is so slow for me, but ie7 worked great and nothing has changed hardware wise. heck, ie8 takes about 10 seconds before it even loads up. i have xp, and they have the system restore, but i don't want to go that route. i'll just have to deal with it i guess

You can get a new tab anytime you like in Firefox...

Or just get a mac.
I don't mean to be the thorn in everyone's side, but until you've tried spending a week on a new intel-based mac (which blows that IBM chip crap out of the water) but if you try it out, you'll find that it's a lot quicker than you'd expect.
Once you've had mac, you never go back.

I like Mac's but they're too anti-Microsoft, and I've found them restrictive in the business environment. Our company and clients are so dedicated to the Microsoft software. There's also other programs and utilities we use that have no versions for Mac's. Sure you can get Office for the Mac, but last I checked there's some features that aren't exactly the same as the Windows version. You can put XP or Vista on a Parallels instance, but what's the point?
Besides, there's a Colonel in one of the departments that is a chess fanatic. When he takes his laptop home at night, he sits on MSN Games and plays online chess. Microsoft will not allow you to play online on MSN Games unless you run it on IE6 or later.

Think Microsoft is trying a backdoor approach to get me to upgrade to IE8. Starting on Sunday, my IE7 began crashing for no reason. If I go from one site to another, this box will pop up asking me whether I want to close the program or restart it. Whichever one I choose, it closes my IE session. I haven't added any programs in months, and my antivirus, Spy-Bot and Adaware software is finding nothing. I don't see any new Microsoft Updates with the exception of an Office 2007 SP1, which I can't uninstall. Firefox and Safari work with no issues. Strange...

Sure, as long as you're willing to pay at least twice what a decent PC costs...

Try using Malwarebytes. It blows Spybot out of the water.

You can still go in and download EI7 from Microsoft.
Just uninstall IE8 through the add remove programs, look on the lefthand side to remove windows components.
