I want a starfish

Here's my tank setup.. I'd really like a starfish and could use some suggestions. I wanted the sand-sifting starfish but I have never seen a copepod so not sure if I have anything for one to eat.
Tank setup : 4/26/07

A sand sifter star is simply not appropriate and will most likely starve.
Please post your specific tank parameters as they are critical for stars.
IMO, no reef safe star is really well suited for your tank (other than brittle/serpentstars). The reef safe stars typically can not be spot fed and most will die in smaller tanks without enough LR on which they feed. It is possible that a Linckia multiflora would be OK (parameters permitting)...but the larger Linckia would be a risk, IMO and I would definitely avoid the small Fromia.
BTW, many will chime in with how great their Linckia has done for a few months. Many of these stars die in 12-18 months - that is their metabolism. Every tank is different as well, but do not believe just because someone has had them a few months, that all is well. These are among the most delicate animals we try and keep in tanks, and there is NO doubt that most Linckia die in this hobby.

I am using R/O DI and Instant Ocean but moving to Reef Crystals this weekend, I ran out of IO and -- was on sale. I don't dose with anything. I feed Mysis, Formula 1 pellets, Formula 2 pellets and flake, alternating.. I've noticed my livestock eats better if I rotate.
Those are the only tests I own but I can buy another or take it to the LFS if I need another one.
