Xenia are cool :) I got some in my tank. Maybe they'll spread and you can trade frags back to the LFS for new coral.

Zoas are a good starter coral, but I wouldn't start with expensive frags, I'd start with nice coloreful, cheaper colonies. MH lights can be anywhere from 8 to 14 inches above the tank (I run my 250 8 inches over a 65 gallon tank). Start the zoas on the bottom, then move them upwards a little at a time. Some like high, some like low, so be sure and research what you are getting as was stated. I've seen zoas triving in a 340 gallon tank that is only 18" deep with two 400w MH directly over the water. Its all about what you aclimate them to.

Thanks Speg and Scopus!
I placed my frags about midway up from the bottom. maybe 14 inches from light. I did not know about acclimating them to light. OR to water! The guy at the LFS said just dip them in fresh water and toss them in. I acclimated them with my clown just to be safe cuz I dont know. Whats to stop the guy from having me kill off coral so I keep coming back to get help.

Just sayin
So maybe at lunch I will move the Zoas to my sand bed on the bottom of the tank? as well as the Xenia?

One Colony seems to be lovin life. all open up and bright. the other colony that is on the piece of rock with the Xenia are all closed. could they be irratated because the Xenia keeps smacking in to them? They are all over the place with the flow.
