i want opinions

what invert do you believe does the best job taking care of hair algae on glass? i have a 29 reef that has hair algae that grows like crazy. i had turbo snails but they have been disappearing and i don't know if i have any left to be honest. i only have a few blue leg and red leg hermits in the tank that eat algae. fish cannot be an option, i'm already at my limit with fish.

Mexican turbos do a great job. Just get one for a 29. What do you mean that your snails keep disappearing? Do you find them on the bottom, are the crabs eating them for the shell, or do they just disappear?

i think my hermits are killing them so i'm thinking of taking the hermits out. so you think only one mexican turbo is all i need? cause i have a lot of algae that grows pretty fast.

They eat very fast. You only need one. They are pretty large snails.

sea hare are fine for a reef i got a big one and i think it ahd a baby cuz now i also got a little one but there just big slugs that love algae ant dont dig or knock stuf over so there fine for reefs

If your algea is growing so fast and on your glass I would look for the cause and fix it. List your water para. actual numbers.

What is your maintance like.
What type water are you using for top offs and w/c?Tap or ro/di?
Filtration.
Livestock
and feeding what, how often?
These may help someone see something that could help fix the issue.

i know why it's growing fast. i use tap water so the phosphates are making the algae grow fast. i know you're not suppose to use tap but i stress coat in the water and let it sit for a couple days before i do a water change. the corals do great and i don't have algae on the rocks or sand. it's just the glass. i think i'll look for a sea hare then.

There is your problem, tap water.
Turbo snails do a great job - that is all I use now because my hermits killed my smaller ones (nars.). The turbos are large enough that they don't get killed by the hermits, but you need to watch our, then tend to move stuff around with their huge shells.
IMO you need to stop using tap water, not only are you introducing things into your tank that cause algea, you may be introducing small elements like copper - and over a prolonged period of time the copper levels will get large enough to kill off inverts. Which may have already happen because you said your snails were dying...

yeah i already knew that the tap is the reason the algae grows so fast but i don't have copper in my water system. plus my corals grow like weeds. in fact i have to frag them every couple weeks cause they keep out growing the tank.
