I just love the movement of xenia i just can't keep them all my other coral are doing great. Any secret or suggestion on keeping them alive let me know. Can micro bubbles kill my xenia or corals in general. I know for a fact it will kill fish. Thanks to any suggestion.

Lots of light and the stuff just grows. I turn the rock on its side to force it to climb and it spreads as it goes...my nitrates are 10...my temp is 82 - 84
I do not have any SPS corals.

I have a mixed reef with sps, lps, softies... I can't kill the stuff. I have halides/t-5 lighting and I know I have pretty nutrient rich water.. but my nitrates still always read 0.
They do not like a clean sterile tank from my understanding.
I've pulled out a bunch of the xenia and just dump it in my frag tank and grows like a weed in there too.

Xenia is a funny coral.. you love it until you hate it... but you have to love it first. Once it takes over your tank you hate it --- if you can't grow it you love it more ;)
If dandelions were hard to grow -- everyone would want them lol

I just killed a huge colony yesturday to make room for. More sps and zoa. Had to take out the rock let it sat in the sun for a day. Cleaned it up now it's back in the tank. For some reason I have a feeling they'll come back. Sounds like a bad nightmare.

Dandelions are pretty...I hate the fluff stage and when they get so big the leaves bite...but it s a pretty yellow flower. Lots of the wild flowers are really nice, yet we call them weeds.
I like a variety of coral...Xenia pumps and looks really cool..The other corals just kind of sit there, colorful but doing nothing. I keep the Xenia cropped and in one corner of my tank, anything neglected will take over. As for killing it to make room for another coral...what a waste, surely there are people who would have paid a good price for a crop of Xenia. I paid $60.00 for a small stalk years ago.
To each his own, in the end the tank is what we watch for our own enjoyment...so no one else’s opinion really matters

I should have mentioned that I ddidnt actually killed the hole thing LOL. I fragged most of it before killing the rest that's I couldn't frag. So I got about 20 frags out of it. Sold half to lfs for $15 a frag. Gave the rest out to friends for free. IMO that wasn't a total waste. I have to admit, xenias are a great money maker.

I never had any problem but what they like is high nutrient water, decent flow and iodine. what they dont like is elevated temps. Have read the grow like weeds in the wild but die off at elevated temps. Not talking 82 and such but higher like mid 80's and up.
even when I did manage to kill some during a tank transfer a new colony grew out of a spec left on a rock. they supposedly dont ship well.
