I will make SWF.com mad at me for this one!

My simple answer is that it would be way too time consuming to weed out the ok links vs the not ok links. "ok links" meaning those posted to products that SWF.com does not carry if we did have such a rule. It would be a gray area that some may cross, intentionally or not. After all, they do sell dry goods here, albeit maybe a smaller selection than many other sites.
I'm just a mod though so that's just what I think and may not be the reason for the rule setup years ago. I don't make the rules but I do stand by them. I did even before I became a mod.
That's why you use the responsible board community.
Im a referee for paintball
there are some paintball fields were you just cant ref everyone at once
Such as when it's 2 refs and 80 players
Or when its on a field where you simply can't ref because there are no front lines because of how you can flank and stuff
That's why we let the palyers ref themselves on the games.
We are their for authority and to back things up and get things straight when they are out of hand
I think forum mods should act like that
Be a position of authority and keeps things in line
but we forum members can take care of ourselves alot
Such as using the report thread
(if this makes you mad sorry just go ahead and delete it)

just one small input from me..
i would love to see the price for Fish,Inverts or Coral from the cheapest to the most expensive in order...so it would be easier for me [who just started] to get something which cheap so that i dont have to spend too much money if i make any mistakes...
cause right now we cant sort the price from the cheapest-highest price or the other way around...
i think it would be great...
im going to order some fish from SWF anytime soon :D :D

That is a very terrible way to select fish for your tank. Research the needs of fish, not what they will cost you.

I can understand SWF policies about competitive sites listing. What I cant understang googling it. 75% of the peaple in this addiction ( its beyond a hobbie) kmow who has the cheapest supplies and who is good to deal with. A noob as they are called are going to google refractometers and find that freds fish supplies has them for 35 dollars. This person will probalby be ordering the cheapest made piece of equip made. I think there should be some kind of info that would or could be released so some of the new ppl will know who has great customer service , top quality harwdware, and return policeis etc. I mean we all come to these boards whether it be a local reef club, SWF,-- etc. to learn and get help with probs that arise from the addiction.

Someone correct me if I am wrong here, but you don't have to order 79.00 min order, you can order 5.00 if you want to pay shipping for that 5.00 order. To get FREE shipping you have to order 79.00 worth of livestock. I might add, thats very reasonable min order, most sites require you to spend 100/150 to get free shipping. Geeze guys, why should SWF sell you something thats real cheap AND pay the shipping? They would lose money instead of making any at all.
I would like to see SWF.com sell Joes juice.

Man this is a regular "Payton Place" type of thread so for my 2 cents worth here goes.
I have ordered from many online site and always had live fish and corals arrive drap, substituted, or otherwise not even close to what I expected from pic's and literature listed.
My first three corals from SWF were perfectly represented by pic's shown and I am still impressed by that. As fsr as what I would like this site to carry _ honestly everything I use!!! Let's face it it isn't going to happen. These sites are just like people with personalities and this one suites me. I bet Scott or someone had developed a mission statement for this business that wanted the healthiest possible specimens. I would say it was achieved and now this little darling of a company is just going through growing pains.
If a business is good and this one is - somewhere along the line descissions get made and business grows or that particular new inroad or branch of service fails. This site has maintained great customer PR by this site, has great live goods, and is willing to listen to it's customers What More Can We Ask For! In closing remember the advice we all give Nothing Good Ever Happens Fast In Marine Tanks - apply it here things are changing for the better leave it alone!

Is this true? I haven't ordered from here because I have a 29 gal tank. There is no $79.00 fish that would fit in my tank. I would gladly pay for shipping.

That is NOT true. I've tried to order just 15 dollars worth of inverts and you can't go to the checkout. You MUST ORDER 79 dollars worth of fish prior to completing the purchase.
I do understand this policy, but i think they should impliment something so people who have purchased X amount of live goods, their minimum order is reduced.

I believe that you are misinformed. I just tried to order a skunk cleaner shrimp from this site and was told that I must increase my total amount to $79.00 to complete the purchase. No mention of paying for shipping.

Great thread folks! I think this is a great site with great forums and I won't even get into a lot of the discussions because my points were already made.
As far as what drygoods I would like to see available here:
1. RO/DI units and replacement filters (I think someone already mentioned it, but I then didn't see it on "the list").
2. T5 lighting, bulbs and fixtures. All I see are metal halide bulbs.
3. Phosban reactors and supplies.
4. Refractometers (already said by many others).
For livestock, I agree with wanting more WYSIWYG. When I am looking to buy corals I like to see exactly what I am buying because there are so many slight variations of color, size, number of polyps or heads, etc. No two corals are exactly alike. On the other hand, I loved the photo contest! Name another site that would have allowed that to happen!
Thanks again SWF!

koralia PH
maxi mod kits
sell impellers to modify PH like koralia maybe some dumas propellers
salt TM pro
plumbing hardware such as bulkheads and screen fittings that hardware stores do not sell for our tanks
for live goods make reef packages more expandable for insistance I don't have or like any crabs in my reef and would perfer an all snail different kinds and maybe a cucumber and some pepermints package for a clean up crew

I think the idea of a WYSIWYG sectio is great. It is in no way pratical. It requires constant updating. That alone would be a full time job. I have designed a few web sites and as far as loading it would be better if you had fish broke up in sub catigories. Im pretty sure you guys have stuck with the current style to stay unique though. Im not sure if that made sence.

also I just purchased a hawaiian flame wrasse and it died the next day on me
I had no idea that you had to pay the 80 bucks on top of the credit amount
that sucks I just want another hawaiian flame wrasse
so why cant that be an option ship it to me when it becomes avaliable and maybe just have the customer pay to have it re shipped I really wanted one of those fish for along time and now not only do I have to wait for the fish to become avaliable but my money is stuck in there for a fish that I still want and do not have I do understand that fish priceys to flucuate but I am also willing to pay differences depending on how sever they are to have a fish reshiped
