it appears that the maze live rock my friend gave me is coming back to life???
if some would woulda told me this could happen i would have strongly doubted it
the maze was in his tank then died and was keept with live rock for a while and then put into his gfs reef tank where it stayed "dead"
but now i have it and its turning green, but not like algae green like
neon green
what do you think

It's still dead as a doornail, what you have is coralline algae growing on it.
When you find a way to bring dead brains back to life, give me a call and we can make a fortune.

actually some corals can retreat deep into the skeleton and come back when conditions are right!! never discount a coral as completely dead even plate can throw alot of babies after the main plate dies off.

i know this can happen i have a bubble coral and it died so i thought I went and got a another one and just left the dead one in the tank. Well when I moved it into a diff tank and took it out and left it on a plastic bag when i was arranging my rock work in a new tank and it is still came back so i have a big one and a small one.

your picture is a little bit fuzzy so I cant really tell by the photo but it doesnt look like coraline has started growing might be wrong though,.

yeaaa sorry its a cell phone
the only way i can describe it is its a light neon green with that big patch and there are 5 or so way smaller areas of green on the rest of it

I have green coralline that looks like what you have there. When it first starts growing it's not real thick. I also have purple coralline like you're used to seeing, and orange coralline. My tank is full of color. Pictures just don't do it justice. For some reason the orange never shows up in the pics.
Although... if you're dosing with plankton this could just be plankton stain.

my galaxia coral did this when my tank went to 88 degrees. part of it is now coming back.

Do you have the lighting to support it just in case?
Has it ever been out of the water for an extended period of time when your friend gave it to you?

Exactly! My monit cap completely bleached out, and died. 3 months later its back, and spreading like crazy!

I had a digita do that. completely forgot about it and when I went moveing things around I found it and it had full polyp extention a few months prior it was completely devoid of life,.

for lighting i really dont know if its sufficiant i have two mini compact 10 watt 50/50 floresent "coral life" bulbs
my tank is a 5 gl pico
and no i dont beleive it was taken out of water for an extended amount of time
i do think that it was in a tank with nothing just running for a period of probably over 4 months
dont know exactly
