my girlfriend and i just booked our reservations for Oahu Hawaii. First time were going there, and i hear the reefs are outstanding. So... because this is the fish photography forum, i would just like to say expect some GREAT fish/reef photos INCLUDING shark excursion photos. Question. lets say this dude has a reef tank, how long can you go without having your corals dying? How long can you go without feeding your clownfish?

five days fine, coral dont need feeding usually, and your fish when hungry enough will pic off your rock. Also, ask one of us who works on these forums who lives near you, to tank sit. Lol have fun in hawaii, personally, I prefer kaui, rather than oahu, kaui is far more rural and unspoiled, also theres great hiking too!.

i have been to hawaii 3 times in the last three years (i keep winning these trips from work) and have dove a lot while there.....you can hear the whales underwater during whale season, its a trip. lots of fish there that are only seen there in hawaii. kaui is pretty rural but the week i was there was the week they had all those rain storms and the mudslides so it kinda sucked that year. if you are traveling from the east side of the country the trip is a long one. but if you dive...and i guess you do, this will probably be one of your better trips.

Ok, im back. I'm actually thinking about moving there, it was beautiful everything is so photogenic. I wasnt able to get the underwater housing for my olympus 500, however i did buy some underwater cameras in its place. NOT nearly as clear as my olympus, but it served its purpose...

While i was taking pictures I turned around and seen the 2 largest fish i have ever seen up close, not sure what they were but they were huge (at least 4 feet) and swimming fast. They were about 2 feet away and scared the CRAP!! out of me...one of them was eyeballing me. I tried to take a pic, but by the time i got my camera up they were gone. Absolutely gorgeous place, never expected to see what i did. Scheduling another trip in May.

Oh man, I looooooooooooove Hawaii.
Being going the last couple of years to the Big Island, and the snorkeling there helped spur ust to start our tank.
At the risk of hijacking the thread, here's a few of our trip . . .

One of my favorite pics, myself at Makalewena Beach, the most beautiful beach you could ever imagine (Also my current wallpaper). Between 1/4 to 1/2 mile long and only accessable by hiking over lava or a 4WD road (We drove). Wonderful powdery white sand, gentle cooling breezes, one our favorite days there last year. Went on a weekday and there were maybe 15 other people on the whole beach!:
