being new to the whole coral thing i purchased a 50$ open brain i have had my eye on. well the frst 2 days it was fine and the last couple it hasnt looked so hot. at least as the day wears on. when i turn the light out it swells up and the feeder tenticals are out and when i turn the lights on it looks perfect huge and open. but after 6 or 7 hours of light it starts to deflate and a lil skleton it protruding. i have a 4X65 watt coralife fixture and of course the brain is on the sand but should i move it to a lil more of a shadded area?? iam confused because for the first few hrs. during the day it looks so nice then it just deflates and looks weak to me

what are all your parameters and what size tank. If its a decent sized tank the lights are not too powerful for the brain.

i think ph nailed it its under 8
its only a 55 so the light should be adiquet (sp?) its 260watts so 4.7 watts a gallon i know WPG dont really matter but just a measuring stick if you will

i just fed it some silverside to both mouths about 45 mins ago and it responded normaly now iam adding buffer. i also moved it to a shadded area and the parts that are under the shade do look a lil bit better. its prolly just my mind playin tricks on me, because i want it to be tank easy!! but thank for the info because mixing buffer was just as easy. hopefuly i will have a better looking brain all day tomorrow!
