i just received x2 250 watt ice cap ballasts. i have the odyssea light with x2 250 watt metal hiliade & x4 65 watt actonic lights. the ice cap has a three prong female end. all three prongs are rectangular. the light has a three prong male plug. all three rectangular. i could plug them together but the cord on the ice cap is only 10" long or so. this light was discussed several times in the past. mostly about changing out the garbage ballasts that came with the odyssea light. how have those of you that made this same change do it . do i have to cut the plug coming out of the icecap & void the warranty? please help

Don't cut it. I assume you also bought the PFO adapter(male). All you have to do is take the three screws out of the adapter to open it up. Then you will see the three leads with screws mounted to each one. The top(center) is the ground(green). Between the other two leads, the hot and neutral, I'm really not for certain which is which. I do know that it is impossible to improperly wire the ballast to blow it up. It will automatically shut down if wired improperly. So you really only have two choices between the other two leads. I guessed right on mine the first time.
