When you purchase a non fish it should be placed into qt tank for 3 weeks. The ich parasite can be laying on it's surface. The ich will reproduce. Ich HAS to have a host. If it does not have a host (fish) it will die. We recently had a woman who did not add anything to her tank for a year. She bought a coral and placed it into her tank. The coral had ich laying on it's surface. She lost several expensive fish and had to pull out her remaining fish. It was a real mess for her. You MUST qt any and all purchases before adding them to your display.

Thanks for al your help. I set up my QT tank today. 10g with standard carbon and filter media hang on the back filter. I placed a cup of my LS from my DT, and a small piece of LR from my Dt also. I filled it up with DT water, and replaced my DT with freshly mixed R/O water. Now I should wait for my levels to drop to 0 in my QT and begin Hyposalinity?

The information that Sepulatian and nicetry provided is fully accurate. Good Alex and Mr. Bean, your information is wrong and very misleading. You should both study the facts of ich before posting any kind of advice on the issue. For instance, not all fish have ich, as already stated. Slime coat and garlic will not get rid of ich from a tank. The only two things that will do that are hyposalinity and copper, and the only thing that will prevent ich from entering a tank is a properly run quarantine, where all new additions are added for four weeks.
Disco Bay, good luck with the hypo process. There were a couple of things I found wrong with your last post. You do not want any live rock in the quarantine tank. When this dies off from the hypo, this will create an ammonia spike. Rather, you want a filter sponge from your display tank so that you transfer all of the bacteria this way. Also, next time you take out water from your display (especially as much as 10 gallons), I would definitely not add fresh RO. This will shoot your SG way down in your display. After you add the filter sponge from the display into the quarantine, acclimate the fish into the quarantine and follow Beth's directions on how to do hyposalinity. You need to take a full 48 hours to drop the specific gravity down to 1.009.

I guess I didn't clarify, I said freshly mixed RO water, not straight RO water! and The small piece of LR is in there to help the tank cycle more quickly, I'll return it to the DT after the QT has cycled, per instructions from Beth on this site.
Thanks for all your help.
