If hypo is performed correctly, which it sounds like it was, then ich would not re-appear. Tell us what you see. Don't hope for lymph spots. If it is ich then it has to be tended to. The spots are definately raised and saltlike, its a perfectly round spot, not clumpy. I really think it is ich. Maybe it was the calibration on the refractometer. I dont know.

I have never used calibration fluid, nor have many of the other people on here that have performed hypo (they never mentioned it, and I would think that they would have if they did). Have your refractometer double checked at your LFS. Is there anything that you are not telling us? We need to know all of the facts to determine what went wrong.

I recalibrated the refractometer by closing the doors in the bathroom so the temperature would drop faster. Once it was at 68 degrees in the bathroom I calibrated it again and it was correct.
How long can fish live in hypo? Should I leave them in hypo? They will have been in there for 5 full weeks monday.

Clowns are more tollerant than some other fish. Sensitive fish such as tangs and butterflies show stress at 6-7 weeks. I am not sure what to tell you to do being that we do not know if the fish were in fact in hypo for 5 full weeks. Ich would not be showing if they were indeed in hypo for that long. Something went wrong along the way.

Should I raise the salinity back to normal and then try again?

No, that would be counter productive. Check your refractometer. Think back to any time that the SG might have gone to 1.010. Think back if anything else went wrong.

That must have happened sometime during the 5 weeks. I dont remember ever reading 1.010. I have a line drawn on the side of the tank to know where to top off. This is the first hypo for me. Maybe I skipped a couple of days of top off and let the SG go to 1.010 without knowing.

That would allow the ich to attatch and reproduce. You absolutely HAVE to monitor the SG at the minimum of once a day, twice is better.

So if your SG gets to 1.010 the ich will get back on them? I think my SG was 1.010 one day thats why i still have ich! Should i still leave my fish in hypo? What should i do? I have a glass hydro meter not a refractometer.

I just checked my SG and it is 1.006-1.008, is this a ok lvl to kill ich? or is it to low? Can the ich come back on the fish with the SG at 1.006-1.008!?

No, the ich won't come back at that level but it could be stressful to the fish. I would not recommend keeping it there for too long. Why is there variance from 1.006-1.008? Why do you not have a clear reading? Please start your own post. We will be happy to help

It is 1.007. If there is sand on the bottom of the tank will it still kill the ich if theres ich in the sand? Right now my 2 yellow tailed damsels and my CB angel have ich still!!!!!! Theres 1 white spot on the CB angel and a few on each of the damsels could it be ich? If not what could it be?

PLEASE start a new thread. I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. This thread belongs to someone else. It detracts from his question.

Here is an update to my thread.
I had my refractometer checked and I lowerd the sg to 1.007 for 1 week and the ich was getting worse so I switched to copper. I am now in the 3rd week and all ich was gone after 2 days. I'm about to take the copper out w/ carbon.
How long will it take to get the copper out?
When can I put my fish back in the display?
Is there a better way to get the copper out?
What is the best way to transfer my fish to the display without getting any copper in the display?
