I have a 55 gal saltwater, with 1 perc clown, 1 raccoon butterfly, and a powder blue tang and many inverts, crabs, snail etc. The perc was covered in ich last week, still eating and very lively. LPS said to feed it well and see if it pulls through. I found a product No Sick Fish, for Ich, info at Nosickfish.com It is 99.9% reef tank safe and is gaurenteed to get rid of saltwater ich (also very expensive). Well day 1 everything looked ok, perc still had ich. Day2 Raccoon butterfly covered in ich, perc still lively and with ich, day three of treatment powder blue tang covered in ich. ?????????? Anyone else ever used this product and if i change them to a QT now and treat with malachite green or copper, do they still need to stay in that tank for a month to "starve" the ich in the 55 gal? :notsure:
Any help would be appreciated, lights have been off for a couple days and water tested within normal range.

Please stop wasting time with that and proceed with a viable ich treatment. Read the posts on ich and hyposalinity in the FAQ Thread at the top of this forum. It has all the info you need for effective treatments.

We have read many articles from this web site regarding the treatment of ich. We feel that Beth has a lot of knowledge in this topic, but there is one thing we did not discuss was what fish are more prone to ich then others.
We would love to hear from you as we are just took our fish out of QT and placed them back in our main tank.
Information about our set up:
We have a 90gal with 135lbs LR & 100lbs LS we have coral and the following is a fish list of our residence.
1- Yellow Tang
1- Purple Tang
2- True Clowns
1- Long Nose Hawk
1- Snow Flake Eel
5- Green Chromas
1- Fox Face
Like to get:
1 - Red Coris Wrasse
1 - Flame Hawk
2 - Firefish Goby - Purple
1- Midas Blenny
Please let us know what you think? Are we over crowding the tank?

Our perc clown has had ich for a while and is fine (eating and swimming happily) bi-color angel and poweder blue tang got infested one day and died the next too fast to treat. Lawnmower blenny and damsel show no signs at all. Raccoon Butterfly has a couple of dots and is eating and acting normal. All alive fish will go into the QT tank today that I set up last night to see if they last the two days needed to reduce salinity for osmosis shock therapy. So now the blue tang and angel once you see signs of ick....dead within 24 hours!

Well, if you ask for an unscientific opinion, most hobbyists would say tangs are ich magnets. There is some truth to that. Ich, however is a very common problem. Newly acquired fish are more likely to have ich than not. What I am saying is, when you get a new fish, don't think, "He looks health with no problems", think "likely has ich, so I am going to deal with it on that basis". If you start looking at things from that perspective, you will learn to handle the ich problem up front, rather than contaminating your tank [and other fish] with a epidemic.
