ok guys here goes. I bought a purple tang two weeks ago. He looked great, was eating and was perfect. I bought him and put him ddirectly into my reef tank.. He developed ich a few hours later. Ive been hammering him with garlic, vitamin c, and no ich medication, to no avail. I have raised temp in my tank to 82. Fish are still swimming around all happy but everyone in my tank has it.. My corals consist of star polyps, mushrooms , duncan polyps, acroporas, frogspawn. what should i do? Can i lower my salinity a bit without hurting corals? What have you guys done, or should i wait it out. Like i said they are happy and eating like pigs. Just loook bad..

If you decide to go the salinity route, which I personally recommend, you have to gradually lower down and then gradually increase back up. You'll probably loose SOMETHING along the way, but if you keep doing what you're doing, you could loose everything. DO NOT PUT RID-ICH IN YOUR TANK...

If you do hypo, setup a quarantine.

I do not think you can do hyposalinity with Live rock and corals..please read about it in the disease section
Options are to set-up a QT...remove all fish....do hypo in that...leave DT empty for 6-8 weeks while fish are in QT
To tell you the truth (do not want to sound hypocritical) I have no QT and if my fish in my 225G were to come down with ich...well I'd be screwed....know what I mean...
I'm just stating above what I have read over and over
NOW IF YOU CAN NOT QT....all I can say is VITAMINS, garlic, excellent food, excellent water quality, and prayer....
