Hi...

A hippo tang needs a 100g MINIMUM tank size, and a 20g tank with 4 clowns alone is already overstocked. You really need to do some more research or you are heading for a crashed tank.

This book will help you decide on what fish is appropriate for a 20g tank.

LOL... That makes better sense.

I understand the problem, I also had Ich in my 90g, but only a small QT, no way could all my fish from the 90g fit in it... I added garlic juice to the food and didn't purchase anymore fish for a year or so, I figured what died, died ... and if they all did...well that would leave the tank fish free for the 8 weeks needed. ...At first every time I even did a small water change the hippo would break out with ich all over again. I got a cleaner shrimp since they like to clear the fish gills of the parasite, and upped the temps to 82 degrees so the hippo tang would be happy and as stress free as possible.

Then I had to move, I was sure the move from Wisconsin to Illinois would have all the fish so stressed the ich would be in full force...but nothing happened, no outbreaks at all. I guess without a sick fish to infest, the healthy fish were able to keep the ich away, and it died off without a host, the shrimp got some I'm sure. I have been ich free for many years now, the small quarantine is great for any NEW fish to be added, and I learned the valuable lesson to always use a quarantine tank.
