Ick die off

Most of my fish have died do to ick. I have a 10 gallon qt tank set up for the few remaining fish. I am going to drain my main tank and start a new cycle. Should I keep my LR in a separate tub with some water circulation or just let it sit out of water untill I fill the tank up to start the cycle?
If I leave the rock out of water and add it to my tank will it need to cure before I cycle the tank?

If you leave the rock out of water, then anything you have living on the rock will die and it will no longer be considered live rock. It will be considered dead rock. You wil probably still have to cure it somewhat because any of the dead organisms that are on it will start to decay and foul up your water when you place the rock inside it.

I would place it in a tub with water and curculation and a heater.
