I will be discussing several topics in this thread to both receive help and help other people.
1) New to the hobby of saltwater read this first, VERY IMPORTANT!
2) Please help me, I have to start all over. ALL ADVISE WELCOME.
3) My whole story, from start till now. If you are new to saltwater you should read this as well.
1) New to the hobby?
Hello everybody. If you are new to the hobby then you should read all of this, it will save you a lot of money and time. Rule #1 Do not ASSume the place you are purchasing your fish, liverock, sand, etc., knows what they are talking about! READ, READ, and READ some more to learn from other people. I trusted several places with my purchases and all my questions and the bottom line is they are in it for the money. Try to find a place you can trust, that is the key. If you have any friends or family who are into saltwater then listen to what they say. They have probably learned the hard way like most of us. Now this is a VERY IMPORTANT! I know you want to make your tank look awesome, with lots of fish, some crabs, starfish, corals, etc., but you cant do that. I repeat, you cannot achieve the look you want overnight, infact it will take you several months. You have to be patient, you are trying to mimic the ocean with all its natural filtration, and beauty. If you don't have patience with saltwater then you will lose a lot of money and you will say to yourself, "Why didn't I listen to what people tried to tell me?" Trust me I was like you and learned

learning the hard way. I now read what other people say and learn from there experiences. You should do the same or you will be very mad with yourself. There are a lot of questions to ask yourself before beginning such as fish only, reef only, reef fish, corals, invertebrates, do I need a fuge, what kind of light, how many gallons, do I need a protein skimmer, a heater, sand or crushed coral, liverock, is it safe to add certain fish, it goes on and on. READ! READ! and READ some more. Good luck and if you would like to hear my story then go to #3. Good Luck and happy aquarium building.
2) Need help I have to start all over.
I purchased a coral beauty about 3 weeks ago and come to find out it had ick. I didn't know until my citron clown goby disappeared and thought it was hiding in the rock like usual. About 3 days whent by and still no clown goby. Then my royal gramma started acting strange. The next day it was dead. Still I am not alarmed. Now my damsels are acting weird and so are my clown gobies. I check the water and everything is great. Next my red scooter blenny is dead. Now I know there is something wrong. I start really observing my fish and notice some white spots on the coral beauty. It is around Christmas so all stores are closed. By the time I can go to the fish store for help I have lost another clown and damsel. The fish store says I have ick and sell me a cleaner wrasse to get rid of the ick. The next day the coral beauty dies as well as my last damsel and my last clown and my purple fire goby. All I have now in my tank that is still alive is my diamond goby, chocolate chip star, serpent star, sandsifting star, crabs, and snails. I have to start all over so what steps do I take in doing so? I have a 55gal. bow front with live rock and live sand. I will be building a fuge and adding a lot more light so I can have anemones. All advise is greatly appreciated.
PS I will never add fish again without first adding them to a hospital tank for 1 month.
