I will be discussing several topics in this thread to both receive help and help other people.
1) New to the hobby of saltwater read this first, VERY IMPORTANT!
2) Please help me, I have to start all over. ALL ADVISE WELCOME.
3) My whole story, from start till now. If you are new to saltwater you should read this as well.
1) New to the hobby?

Hello everybody. If you are new to the hobby then you should read all of this, it will save you a lot of money and time. Rule #1 Do not ASSume the place you are purchasing your fish, liverock, sand, etc., knows what they are talking about! READ, READ, and READ some more to learn from other people. I trusted several places with my purchases and all my questions and the bottom line is they are in it for the money. Try to find a place you can trust, that is the key. If you have any friends or family who are into saltwater then listen to what they say. They have probably learned the hard way like most of us. Now this is a VERY IMPORTANT! I know you want to make your tank look awesome, with lots of fish, some crabs, starfish, corals, etc., but you cant do that. I repeat, you cannot achieve the look you want overnight, infact it will take you several months. You have to be patient, you are trying to mimic the ocean with all its natural filtration, and beauty. If you don't have patience with saltwater then you will lose a lot of money and you will say to yourself, "Why didn't I listen to what people tried to tell me?" Trust me I was like you and learned

learning the hard way. I now read what other people say and learn from there experiences. You should do the same or you will be very mad with yourself. There are a lot of questions to ask yourself before beginning such as fish only, reef only, reef fish, corals, invertebrates, do I need a fuge, what kind of light, how many gallons, do I need a protein skimmer, a heater, sand or crushed coral, liverock, is it safe to add certain fish, it goes on and on. READ! READ! and READ some more. Good luck and if you would like to hear my story then go to #3. Good Luck and happy aquarium building.
2) Need help I have to start all over.

I purchased a coral beauty about 3 weeks ago and come to find out it had ick. I didn't know until my citron clown goby disappeared and thought it was hiding in the rock like usual. About 3 days whent by and still no clown goby. Then my royal gramma started acting strange. The next day it was dead. Still I am not alarmed. Now my damsels are acting weird and so are my clown gobies. I check the water and everything is great. Next my red scooter blenny is dead. Now I know there is something wrong. I start really observing my fish and notice some white spots on the coral beauty. It is around Christmas so all stores are closed. By the time I can go to the fish store for help I have lost another clown and damsel. The fish store says I have ick and sell me a cleaner wrasse to get rid of the ick. The next day the coral beauty dies as well as my last damsel and my last clown and my purple fire goby. All I have now in my tank that is still alive is my diamond goby, chocolate chip star, serpent star, sandsifting star, crabs, and snails. I have to start all over so what steps do I take in doing so? I have a 55gal. bow front with live rock and live sand. I will be building a fuge and adding a lot more light so I can have anemones. All advise is greatly appreciated.
PS I will never add fish again without first adding them to a hospital tank for 1 month.

3) My whole story.
I had a freshwater tank with the same 8 fish for about 4 years and some were getting rather large. I decided to purchase a larger tank so they could grow. I purchased a 55 gal. bow front with stand for around $1200. I had a brilliant idea to purchase a bunch of fake saltwater accessories to make it look like a saltwater tank. Great Idea? NO!!! All my trouble started after that. I purchased about $500.00 worth of fake rocks, corals, invertebrates, anemones, etc. After setting the tank up everything was great for a little while. Soon I had a milky substance in my tank from all the fake rubber corals. Frustrated I gave the 27gal. tank to my wife's Mom and put the fish back in there original tank. I then started preping for a saltwater tank. First thing I did is went to a fish store for advise. I told them what I wanted and they sold me crushed coral and a bag of salt. Told me to come back in 3 days to test water. I did and they said the water was OK. They sold us 6 damsels, 3 orange clown fish, 2 white and black clown fish, 1 yellow clown fish, and 2 royal grammas. All fish died! I went to another fish store and told them the whole story. They sold me 50lbs live rock a heater a bunch of chemicals and once again 4 damsels, 2 orange clown fish, a scooter blenny and some snails. All died except 3 damsels. I then went to another fish store and told them what has happened. They sell me more chemicals, more live rock and check this out. It's only been about 2 weeks since I started my tank. They sold me a red lobster, feather duster, 6 peppermint shrimp, fire shrimp and my first water test kit. Lobster dies in about 3 hrs, feather duster lasts about 2 weeks, 4 peppermint shrimp die, and fire shrimp dies. I go to another fish store and tell them my story. They sell me more chemicals, live sand, protein skimmer, 1 blue carpet anemone, a bubble tip anemone, white sebae anemone, and a bunch of crabs. All dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have now spent about $3000 and I have a tank of crushed coral, live sand, live rock, 3 damsels, 2 peppermint shrimp, and a handful of crabs. I go to another fish store and tell them what I have been through and they end up selling me a red and gold coral banded shrimp which kill each other a purple urchin, two royal grammas which kill each other a porcelain crab and some new lights. Extremely frustrated I start to lose hope in my saltwater challenge. About 3 months go by and nothing else dies so I decide to try it again. I try another fish store and tell them what has happened to date. They give me advise on what I have done wrong and most important of all they DO NOT TRY TO SELL ME ANY FISH. I do what they recommend and all is great. For the next couple of months I purchase more fish and inverts. After 6 months of trial and error my tank then included the following:
3 blue damsels
2 percula (orange) clown fish
1 royal gramma
1 citron clown goby
1 diamond goby
1 purple firefish goby
1 red scooter blenny
1 sand sifting starfish
1 serpent starfish
1 chocolate chip starfish
10 nassarius snails
30 turbo snails
5 red leg crabs
10 blue leg crabs
ALL WAS GREAT! Then I bought a coral beauty and about 3 weeks later all fish dead from ick except my diamond goby and inverts. Starting over with all the advise I can get. Hope to have a beautiful tank in the next couple of months.

Amen I have been there and learned. Now I will wait for awhile and do things right. looking at a tank full of Lr for a while is not really that bad. especially when you see things coming out of them that you have never seen before.
I have setup a 30 gallon QT and a 10 gallon refugium I am working on for my 75 gallon with only live rock in it. I will just by some fake floating Tangs for a few months until i get everything setup the right way.
If something happens to them I know I am not cut out for this.
