I just finsihed my ICK treatment on my Huma trigger. How do i know it worked? He was in pretty bad shape now he acts like it never happened. I dont see anymore spots clear or dark. My Eel and the fish eat regularly. Im going to do a water change tomorrow and buy new filters. How long should I wait till I added anything else>?

How did you treat the trigger? Was he in the display when he showed ich? Please explain what all occurred.

As SEP indicated it all depends on thre treatment method and duration of the treatment you used. If you used a bottled treatment in your display tank (example: Kick Ich ) it very well could have helped decrease the number of the organisms and prevented any secondary bacterial infections so the fish look better. In this scenario the Ich will probably (I hope not) return. The return will probably come with the addition of a new stress..like the addition of a new fish.
If you used hyposalinity or copper in a QT for 3 weeks beyond seeing the last 'white spot' on all the fish and left the DT free of fish for that same period of time you most likely (not 100%) will not see Ich again if you QT any new additions to your DT for a minimum of three weeks.

How long did you use the super ich cure? Did you use a SW version of it? I am only finding a fresh water one online. I must say that by reading what it claims to do, I am not confident that it worked at all.

Im getting ready to do the water change and put the filters back in. I used the SW version sold at the store. The fish was on his last hour before I added the medcine like I stated in the other thread. His body has cleared up. I do not see anymore sign of it. Should I still take the huma out and buy that Kick Ick stuff I have seen about on this forum? My Eel is doing wondeful as usual. I dont want to add anymore fish and then they all die. I need hermits and snails as I have bought a protien skimmer but Im afraid to hook it all up.

Maybe I missed it, so I will ask. Do you have a quarantine tank set up? If so, your best bet would be to remove all of the fish from the display and perform hyposalinity in the QT. Reef safe treatments are not that reliable. Some people do use them. We have heard both negative and positive results on them. I will tell you that reef safe medications do not kill ich. They, depending on which you use, make it so that ich cannot attach to the fish's body. Ich still can attach to the gill tissue. Enough parasites live to keep the life cycle going. Fish can live with ich if they are healthy. Their body will fight off parasites. Again, ich will still be in the tank. If a fish becomes immune compromised then that leaves them open to infestation. Once ich is able to feed and reproduce more easily you have a problem again.
