ID and problem??

I don't know if they are related, but for the ID I recently have these things in the picture showing up in a decent amount. In case the picture is not clear, they have a round base with a "stick" for lack of a better term growing from the base. They are brownish in color, although several are covered by coraline.
On the problem side, my emerald crab died and a mushroom is withering away. Levels are below, I'm stumped???

those are normal to grow in your tank, i think you need to check calcium and i think temp is kinda low!

It's good to know they are normal, but what are they? And why calcium? I was thinking about that myself but for different reasons unrelated to the problem.

it seems that the hitchhiker thread is no longer on the new hobbist page!
Hmmm how do i explain this, I know they are normal because i have them in my tank, and when they 1st started showing, I was told what they are I just can't rememeber what they are called! Sorry it's the best i can do this late in the day!

here are my stats
AMM 0
TRITES 0
P.H.8

I was having similar concerns, we found that calcium was low, since bringing it up things are starting to grow better now!
What kind of lighting do you have, Could it be your shrooms are getting to much direct light? Not the right kind?

Wooohooo, Viper got it, I could not remember that for nothing!
I do not what to steer anyone wrong here, I was hoping someone else would chime in on why your shrooms are shrinking!

The shroom issue may have been premature. This morning it looked like it was coming back strong. It looks like something (or someone) may have torn it off its base a little.
Maybe it was just the crabs time to go! He was useless anyway, never ate the damn bubble algea!
