Tizzo, yours looks like an emerald to me. I've seen a lot of different shades of emeralds...real dark to very light and some with a brown hue to their green.

Do they shoot back into the rock like a duster when disturbed?

His body was a lot rounder than an emerald. I had a couple of those and the grey one wasn't anywhere near the same shape.

here's 2. One you can see him chompin on the coralline. In the above pics, you can see the sratch marks left in his wake to the right of him.

mine looks like yours but looks more like coraline algae is on his body hmm i never saw a molt so i dont know.
i looked this morning he was hanging out at the same place.

Yours may be feathers. Do you see a mouth like the one in the pic above?

with those hairy legs and the size and shape of those claws I would still go with gorilla crab.

I had one just like it. He is your basic Stone crab. Red eyes = bad. He started small and grew nice and fat based on all my hermit crabs he chowed on.
You should yank him out ASAP!
