I think this has to be bristle worm, and its huge. Is it? Wasn't completely exposed so I have no idea how long it is, the length that I did see had to have been about an inch.

How can I get rid of this thing, I was going to snatch it up with my tank grabbers but it started retreating back under the rock.
What do you guys think I can do? Methods of capture and possible animals I could add to get it, I want to hear all of the options even if they don't apply to my tank.

Yes, its a bristleworm. And mine are bigger than that....they dont harm anything in my tank, not corals, snails, or anything. They come out and eat left over food, and stuff. But if you really want to remove him, Use a device called trap them. Its a green tube that you place food in, the bristleworms go after it and they are stuck in it. Hope this helps

I thought this was pretty cool from another site.
"So I decided to modify it to make them think they were actuslly going into rock. What you do is get a small piece of that very soft, lightweight, porous, white decoration rock from your lfs. Use a hacksaw and cut it in half. I used a dremel tool to hollow out the center of both halfs so that when you put it back together, the middle of the rock is hollow. It should be big enough to hold a good sized piece of fresh raw shrimp from your grocery store. Then drill a bunch of holes from the center of the rock to the outside. Get a rubberband that is big enough to solidly hold the pieces together, and tie a piece of fishing line to it. Then once your lights go out, put the shrimp inside and seal it up with the rubberband. Lower it into the tank in an area you have seen the little suckers, go to bed and when you get up pull it out open it and pick them out with tweezers. I caught 14 in 6 nights. Actually when you put it in, sit and watch it with a flash light and you can watch them come a running. Have fun."

I have so many that a recent purchase from SWF died overnight and there was nothing but bones the next morning. So, even though it was within the time for a credit, there was nothing but bones to take a picture of.

Phew, I will leave them then, I wasn't sure if they harm anything someone on another site said they can go after peoples cuc. But if you say they don't then thats a relief.

Thats a pretty cool idea, but if they are ok in my tank and won't harm anything like luvmyreef says then I will just let them be, if they are cleaning up my tank in areas that my other critters won't then that's fine by me.

Here's one I keep to clean up after Clownfish. Compare the worm to the fish for a size scale. Almost half of the worm is visible.
