ID help needed? is it a colt?

just picked it up about a week ago. I think it might be a colt by other pics ive seen, but just want to make sure. thanks

i have a colt but looks nothing like that one so i dont think yours is a colt. i think it has too many polyps to be a colt (too furry)... i have seen those before but dont know what it is...

it does appear more fuzzy or bushy than pics of colts i have found, havent seen a leather like it either. it wasnt really named at the lfs so i figured someone might know here. thanks,

here is a farther away pic. definatly not xenia. although the fuzzy part does open and close like my pulsating xenia.

its deff some sort of a leather. i can take a pic of 1 of mine and the polyps look the same. im still sticking with a colt

I've seen this before so I checked the conscientious marine aquarist and fenner's book has it marked as dendronepthya sp.
I googled it and that's what popped up.

looks about correct.

that dont look the same to me though more of like a blush color not red. i just have not seen one that is bushy as this yet, i guess thats what throwing me off.

carnation corals come in all types of colors. from light to dark. red to orange to yellowish and even a deeper maroon. anyway, that's the closest looking thing to the one you posted.

yeah, I think that's a colt. there are actually several different types of corals that are commonly called colt corals and that looks like one of them. I have Julian Sprung's book on corals and I'll try to look it up when I get home later.
