ID Help on Fish

sorry, i dont have a picture, but i dont think there are that many of these fish around....
Ok.. this is going to sound a bit crazy, but the fish was about 2-4 inches in length (there were a good dozen in the tank) the head was the color of deep corraline going to yellow by the tail...
Now, the kicker... all the fish swam upside down... no kidding, none looked like they were dieing... i had to do a doubletake on this... they really swam upside down.....
does someone know anything about these?

Sounds like a royal gramma. Do search and see if this matches the fish you saw.

yes, it looks like the royal gramma, but the ones at the LFS were all up-side-down......
not dead, all were swimming normally, and looked as if nothing was wrong......

do you mean, upside down, as in head down, tail up??
if so, this is normal, they do that alot.

but i think it is the royal gramma..... sounds like they will make good additions to a tank...

It can also be royal dottyback, but 4" is too much also for dottyback and gramma
