I bought this guy a couple days ago at a lfs and they sold it as a wild caught percula, but I am not so sure. It does not have much black on it....is there any other difference I could look for? I would like to get him a friend, but I want to buy the right kind....
Thanks!

Reduce the image to no larger than 500X500 pixels and then you can attach it to your post.
Generally:
Percula have 9 dorsal spines, Ocellaris have 10-11.
Percula have orange eyes, Ocellaris have tea colored eyes.
There are other differences but these are the two most obvious.

I am having trouble counting the dorsal spines (when do you stop..at the white band?) but it does look like it has orange eyes...does that make it a positive id of Percula?
ViPeR_930...why did you say Ocellaris?

There's no black around the white stripes like a true perc would have. A true perc would also have more orange in the eyes than yours.

Not healthy? I just got him 2 days ago...he's swimming around and eating....I guess I am just going to have to get another clown and see if they pair up or not.

He looks fine, I agree Ocellaris clown fish, but to be absolutley sure I'd have to have a really good closeup. you sortof have to know about counting the dorsal spines and where to stop before you start counting the soft rays.
The flash of the camera might be making the clown fish looked sortof washed out, otherwise it just looks like a healthy juvi.

Just thought I'd add that I think Viper is right but I can't tell for sure. A picture without the flash might help.

Here is a contrast enhanced close up of the dorsal spines...I don't know if you can see well enough to count. I will try to get another photo without the flash.

I don't know how you guys get such good photos. I scooped him up in a plastic bag for a minute, but I did not want to stress him out too much. The pics are not great but its the best I can do. I think you can see the dorsal fin very well though.
Let me know if this changes your minds.
