Was that a hitchhiker when you bought the rock, or did it form later? All my new sponges are white rather than colored.

The rock has been in there for 6 months, but I'd have to say the sponge formed later. I'd say it's been there about 3 months.
I thought it is a sponge but needed confirmation.

I have a sponge just like that one. I love the color. Whats neat is that mine has a polyp growing out from the middle of the mass. I think the polyp was there first and the spone grew around it. Its cool anyhow.
