I am currently looking for a mantis shrimp/ pistol shrimp and I have ran across 2 crabs, that maybe hopefully they are the culprits of the snapping noise. One of them is really hairy, like a tarantula and the other is a small crab.

The hairy one is a gorilla crab and will tear up anything in it's path. You want to get rid of the Gorilla crab quickly. He's cute to look at but his behavior is ugly! Do a search on them!

The first one could be a Gorilla crab, not sure though. Neither one would make a snapping noise though.

Hmmm. Its Funny Because Im Looking For A Pistol Or Mantis?? And Come Across 2 Crabs That I Never Knew Were In There.i Have Them In My Sump Right Now..and I Have Another Question To Narrow My Search . Ok A Mantis Can Only Make The Snapping Noise While Hitting Something .. But A Pistol Can Make It Just Any Ole Time ( Am I Right?) If This Is The Case Then . Im Looking For A Pistol Because I Hear It Alot. Morning, Evening , Really No Certain Times.. But I Never See It And During My Search I Heard It But ...oviously I Havent Caught It And 2 Strange Crabs Later .. I Still Hear The Snapping! Anyone That Has Had Either Of The 2 Can You Tell Me About The Snapping You Hear To Help Me Out On Identifcation
