Hey, first of all, sorry there aren't any pictures to help with ID!
So, I went out and got new lights for my tank today, i'm so excited they look amazing and thet're so thin you dont even notice them on top of the aquarium!! When I got home I put them on, I put the only thing with coraline on it (an abandoned hermit crab shell) ontop of the box powerhead so it gets good light and hopefully comes back to life, and noticed somthing new on the shell. Another shell, small about 3mm long, and 2mm tall, but peeking out from under the edge of this miniature shell was a small black head with two black antennae, it has remained closed for a while now but peeks out every now and then. It hasn't moved so far, but I only found it recently, and I just have absoloutly no idea what it is, its skin is black, but the shell is white/beige! Anybody have any ideas? Is it safe, because im going reef soon and don't want it to harm any of my corals. Thanks guys and gals!
Sorry again for no pics, will get some up as soon as sister gets home tomorrow night!

Thats what I was thinking, but not entirely sure, probably best guess though. Do they ever move around, and are they reef safe for all corals?
Thanks for super speedy reply

YES, they are safe. I have a couple that are attached to my astrea snails too...they are always on them.

Okay, just checked it out again, and last time i looked (5 mins ago) there was nothing around it and I just repositioned the shell in the tank. It looks as if there are spiderwebs all ofer it and the coraline shell and all around the face coral the shell is on! I just put it there to limpets make webs!? lol what the heck is going on? Looked again and the webs that were all over the fake coral are GONE!!! Am I halucinationg or is somthing pretty weird happening?

I don't think so, but all i have seen is the shell and the glimps of the head.
The webs are'nt out again maybee just somthing floating in the water? lol
anyways, when I saw the head it definantly looked snail-ish (is that even a word?) I'm guessing on it being a limpet, i guess the only way to find out is to wait overnight, if its still there probably a limpet, if not a snail, unless you think it could be somthing else? Thanks for help!!

So I watched it last night after I turned out the lights. It came out almost immediatly, and the black head poked around on the hermit shell and would go back in, looked so much like a snail but didn't move for the entire night!
