ok everyone i bought some new lr today and i could see the purple,teal, and red corline on it, but thought that was all the tag a longs i had until i turned off my light, then about an hour after that i went in to see what i could see and there were some little nat looking things crawling all over it what could they be?

pods? what are pods? this lr is very very poris so they are all in the holes. the lr was in a small tank with some community rock. there was also a emerald crab and two coral banded shrimp in the tank. by the way i am just now showing nitrites in my tank (still cycling) if they are pods do u think they will make it through the cycling. how can i help them?

"Pods" are tiny crustaceans that come in with liverock...amphipods,copepods,and isopods{you can do a search..lots of info}.They should be fine,even if some die,there will be larvae to replace them.Think of it like this,if cycles killed all pods most of us would'nt have any. Hiya,
If you're tank is still cycling, you crabs are probably not going to make it. If you can, take them back to the store and see if they'll hold them until your tanks done cycling.
Pods are a great thing to have.

think you misread i dont have the crabs or the shrimp, they were just in the tank with my lr at the lfs, thought that maybe the nat looking things might be babies, just got done doing some reading on the pods and i think that is what they are, but i did see a couple of scary threads on bad pods, how can i tell them apart, i dont want to add fish in a month or so and the pods kill them.
