Hey all please ID this coral for me and let know what I should expect from it...also what kind of lighting should I have for it.
It seems like it has been thriving so far.
The polpys on the brown mat make it look kinda like a blue ridge coral. I've never kept one, so I don't know if they can be encrusting like that or not. Cool, whatever it is!
my post now makes 3 people from orlando on this thread! isnt that great!. oh and btw waterfaller i didnt know doug had a referral program at his shop i learned that when i was up there today so i told him that you told me about it.!
Thanks for the replies...
When I fragged the GSPs off the rock I damaged it a little bit and it seems like the underside might be a bluish color.
Dunno if that would help any.
It's definitely not fire coral I was holding it in my hand to frag the GSPs off.
Although I am certainly no expert when it comes to coral identification (but getting better), I also think this is a Blue Ridge coral. I have a small piece that my LFS broke off and gave me and it looks very similar. I had it in my old tank under 285 watts VHO and he said to place it in a hole in the rocks near the top. It encrusted completly over the hole and now that it is under MH lighting, it has small white polyps that appear quite regularly on its surface. Hope this helps.

Waterfaller can you e-mail me Doug's info. Although I found that friend that works here I still would like to check him out.
BTW I got another LMB yesterday. He is a good sized one like yours, and he was $12.67, Can't beat that.
