ID....What is this thing?

Right in the middle of the picture

I noticed it at first having three tentacles/arms now I've noticed a total of five. Meowzer said it might be a brittle star, but it hasn't left the hole, i've checked at night and its still in the hole. Also if you disturb it it will quickly draw back in the hole. It doesn't seem to ever have its arms touching the LR instead it sorta just sticks out and sways a little.

I would have to agree with Meowzer on this one. It looks just like the bunch of mini brittles I have in my tank. I'm always seeing arms out of just about every little hole. Mine are striped like that too. They're great.

will they get bigger and eventually leave the hole?

No, that's about the size they will stay. Cool critters. You may see one out and about occasionally.

Ah poop, I was hoping it grow to the size of those orange ones (enter proper name) I always see. That'd be cool.
Btw I have only had my take running for about 4 1/2 weeks, so is the fact that this mini brittle star is still alive a sign that I have good water quality? enough so that I can start getting other stars or even shrimp? I know those are the most delicate things you can get.
