Yep it's a favia. Just bought a smaller frag that looks identical to yours. I hope it does well cause the color is awesome.

As simple as they seem, they're actually really cool coral.
Yeah I thought so too, I believe they grow in a dome shape correct?
and mrdc, that is exactly why I had to have it, the greens are amazing.
Thanks everyone for helping me ID this piece, super helpful

I said it before and I'll say it again, this is why I hate common names.

LOL...I know Henry, but last night I didn't feel like looking it up, and I knew what it was called when I bought it.
ALSO....Favia is kinda general too....isn't it? In my coral book there are quite a few different types of Favias....pallida, sp., speciosa, stelligera, among many others.....this is one of the things that gets me confused

Yep ... favia and favites cover a lot of coral that we get. A lot of them cant be exactly identified unless you look at their skeleton which is covered with tissue or under a microscope....learned that from something spanko gave me.

It sure has grown. What are you feeding it?
Nothing specifically...it eats what the tank eats...mysis, marine cuisine, spirulina, the new h20 frozen cubes that have a large variety of things...I also use selcon, zoe, zoecon, vita-chem, h20 fish food soak, LOL.....I am sure that I left something out, but it gets a lot of different varieties

Very nice growth. I have the same one (the little frags right?) from swf.com. mine was on the brink of death when I received it and it's made a fully recovery plus some. I need to get some of that rock-cement stuff so that I can keep it in one place...damn hermits keep pushing the frag around.

If you look at the pics you can see where it has spread onto the rock....YAYYYYY....so I am sure it is now permanently on there...:)

No no.. I can certainly see how yours has become attached. Mine gets knocked out of it's little spot I wedged it in about every 2 days by hermits/snails... in order for mine to become attached like yours I'll have to attach it with something first (that sounds funny).
