We, too, run a dehumidifier in the basement in all but winter months--I would hesitate to use that water, though, because the collection tray or bucket gets slimy and I don't even want to think of what it is that makes it that way. Believe me, we are economy reefers, and I still think the ro/di unit we bought was a solid investment. Just another .02!!
This hobby is very expensive and requires alot of work. If someone can think of something to make it cheaper or easier GREAT! We might all be able to benefit from it. Although I question the efficiency of using a humidifier it's good to hear some fresh ideas.
