I do not have a picture, but i have small white things growing off my live rock, they look like a vase with small tenticals on the tip ? what could this be?

they are growing on a rocks they are any where from - to---- and getting larger

no i have not any peppermint shrimp i have a sand sifting star fish, some snails and crabs.

My guess would be aptasia...if its aiptasia...grab a turkey baster and poke it with that...if they retreat to their holes or w/e..then my guess would be its aiptasia..they can spread quickly and take over tanks in no time! :nope:

Chances are they are q-tip sponges. Do they look like this

no it didnt retreat it really did nothing i noticed that it is hollow in the middle it is white looks like a vase has little tenticles on the end and is hollow in the middle.

They are filter feeders. They are not bad. It usually means that your water conditions are quite good. you probably will start to see little feather dusters popping up also.

great mayby i wont have to buy feather dusters now, are these sponges alive? do they lie dormant and then suddenly start growing when your tank cycles min just cycled about a few weeks ago
