find these in my filter all the time, are they copepods or something more menacing?

I need to know what these are for sure, since I've been putting them back into the tank. The diamond goby eats them up fast, but a couple usually get away. Just want to make sure it's not some sort of baby mantis shrimp or something. It'd be just my luck.

I was wondering are these the kind of pods you need to have in order to keep those wonderful mandarins? Because I really want one but dont know if my tank is mature enough to have. Thanks:notsure:

yes, they are.
If you have a refugium you can grow them and they will filter over to your display. And for a mandarian you need to have very established tank with lots of LR.

So i guess its not a good thing if i dont have sump. I only have a 30 gallon tank with plenty of live rock but the tank has only been established 4 months now so i would probably have to wait at least a year then to put one in, or can an exact time could be told as to when i could put this wonderful fish in my display:) :)

I'd wait till you're overridden with pods before getting a mandarin...you don't want it to starve like mine did.
