I bought a "Black Goby" well thats what the LFS had it labeled. The fish looks like a goby. It is 3" long and solid jet black with a yellow tail. He mostly hides in a small hole in my live rock. Thanks

Family: Gobiidae
Genus: Gobiopsis
Species: G. atrata
Binomial name
Gobiopsis atrata
(Griffin, 1933)
The New Zealand black goby, Gobiopsis atrata, is a goby of the family Gobiidae, found around northern New Zealand to depths of about 30 m, in reef areas of broken rock and sand or mud. Its length is between 5 and 10 cm.
The New Zealand black goby lives in a distinctive habitat. It lives in burrows made in sand against rocky reefs. When disturbed the fish dives into the burrow giving little chance at identification.
It is a uniform dark grey-black, with fused pelvic fins typical of most gobies, and the typical tubular body shape with blunt head.

We have one that sounds like your description at the store I work at. They call it a "bicolor blenny". I searched online and came up with the latin name Escenius bicolor. Look on Google images or something like that and see if he is a match.

Local Fish Store = LFS, no need to be sorry & it isn't a silly question at all. BTA means Bubble Tip Anemone by the way.
