Sounds strange but you want to sort of bother the toad so it pulls back in its feelers and THEN remove it for the cleaning of algae.
Shouldn't take long to clean the algae. But if it makes you feel better to keep it submerged, than you can put some tank water into a small bucket. Transfer the specimen into the bucket and clean it there. Just put back into tank when finished.
I took it out of the water for 3 mins and scraped off the bubble algae. Having it out of the water for that short period of time shouldn't kill it, right? Next time I will fill up a bucket with my DT water and place the toadstool in it. Thanks
