If a fish died...

how fast would the clean up crew take care of it. Today when I got up to feed my fish I was short an orange lined cardinal. This fish was always out but no sign of him at all today. The only good thing about this is that he spent his whole day chasing the smaller cardinal so now that one is out.

That would depend on how big the cleanup crew is. Chances are if the fish died then maybe some of your clean up crew pulled him under a rock or something. Or maybe he just died under a rock where you can see him. I would still think that you would see some part of him since it hasn't been that long ago.

Even a modest clean up crew can do a number on a fish! The night of the 14th I had a fox face that was starting to look a little tattered and my blue tang has been giving him hell all of a sudden. They have been in the tank for a year and no problems. I work for a Fire Department and went to work and came home 24 hours later to find nothing but a skeleton!!! I thought at first it was my coral banded shrimp molting but, then I noticed it was a complete Skeleton no meat only the bones. So it doesn’t take long at all!

I have about 20 or so hermit craps, 3 nassarious, a emerald and some other snails. I've looked everywhere and I can't find him. The little cardinal is very happy though.

Can you see any bones? Is it possible he jumped ship and maybe laying behind your aquarium...if so you will smell him soon enough.

check your overflow or sump if you have them. Fish especially a dead/ weak one could get sucked up easily.
