Very true...although this one was eating for the first couple days so I don't think it was emaciated...I believe that's the word lol...but if I do get one again it will be from divers den

They will still eat but after a certain point there bodies just can't digest it anymore. There just too far gone. Its one of those fish I always scrutinize before getting

How's the mandy
the mandy didn't make it Kristin...even down in my fuge where there were pods surrounding him I guess it was just to late...he was so weak that he couldn't even swim away from the little slits that you put in the top of your sump chambers where the water just trickles over...I have to assume he was already to far gone when I received him although he was eating...I can't say he was eating well but he was picking at the rocks...and now that I think back when I got him he was behaving very skiddish and wouldn't come out of this cave for a couple days...like I said to me he just seemed weak to begin with so....I tried as best I could :(

on another note my brown scooter and red scooter are doing well still both eating most anything I feed the tank...my brown scooter is definitely a male and the red one im not sure about...the red one does have a fin directly behind his head but its pretty small unlike the brown one which fans out really big...the brown one does a little dance with all of his fins displayed and his face turns all black and the ends of his fins turn bright yellow...I wasn't sure if this was an aggression behavior or mating behavior...he shows no aggressive behavior to the red one though so maybe the red one is a female and he likes her :)...they do hang out a lot/most of the time...I will get a video of it today as soon as my lights come on in the tank

yeah like I said jay if I do it will either be in person or off the divers den where they have been properly quarantined and cared for...I also am gonna see how these two scooters do for quite some time before I attempt another mandy

oh and I am getting ready to put my mcosckers in soon...depending on each persons opinion one would say I could have put him in yesterday which was 2 weeks lol I actually didn't realize it had been 15 days until just now so theres a good possibility he will be going in today or tmrw...he is doing great and eats like a maniac

Oh no! That sucks, I'm sorry. I agree, buying in person is the best, bag feeding while you acclimate is also a good idea and can be easily done. In person you can choose the fattest man in the tank. In my recent crash I lost my Mandy and my lawn mower blenny and my tank just isn't the same without them.

I usually do 30 days QT. 5 tank transfers then the rest of the time in one tank for observation.

Ok so I put my mccoskers wrasse and my tiger goby in the DT two days ago...the wrasse is doing great and as of the night I put them both in I haven't seen my tiger the next couple days...good thing is he's not on the floor...bad thing is there is a gap that I did not see where the loc line comes into the tank at the overflow...do I checked all over in the sump and he is nowhere to be found...now I'm just hoping he didn't swim through the sump and into the return pump ...he was sifting a little bit the night I put him in so that's the last I saw of him...there are lots of rocks in the DT so I'm really hoping he is just being very shy ...I now have a bangaii and court jester goby aka rainfords goby in QT for 2 days...the goby of course is a scaredy cat and hides all day but that's pretty standard lol...so I now have a gramma, wrasse, pj cardinal, red scooter, brown scooter, 3 chromis and hopefully a tiger goby hiding :)

Oh and I have like 1/2" plastic mesh over the return PVC pipe in the sump but of course there are plenty of fish that can fit through if they were to make there way into the sump...I put that on there basically so my dally light foot doesn't crawl in there...any other ideas for something to stop fish...I might just end up putting 1/4" plastic mesh but I'm afraid it will restrict the flow when build up happens...either that or I just have to stay on top of cleaning it off

Now if they just had something to plug the return line cutouts ;)

But I guess if that strainer is on there it can't hurt much lol

i feel like there is either something wrong with my 3 chromis or there just kind of odd lol...ive had them in the DT for about a month I would say and 80% of the day they sit in the corner of the tank swimming straight up and down and the other 20% they are acting normal out in the open...everytime I feed them they come out and eat just fine so I guess idk what to think...all the rest of my fish are just fine and the chromis don't appear to have any markings on them which would look like a disease of any kind so idk maybe there just weird lol

Chromis are weird in general. I've never been able to keep more than one bc they always seem to whack eachother

idk why I haven't thought of this but im going to put my pink spot watchman goby down in my sump to live while he is up for sale instead of keeping him in this 5 gallon tank that I have had him in for months lol I feel bad that its so small of a tank...im thinking he will have plenty of food to munch on in the sump just from food I feed in the DT going into the overflow

so here is the video of my chromis acting odd most of the day...like I said they all 3 come out to eat but after the food is gone they all three go sit in a corner of the tank and either swim vertically like that or just hide behind those loc lines the entire day...they have been doint this ever since I put them into the DT like 3 to 4 weeks ago...sometimes they appear to have some brownish colored blotches on there sides but a lot of times the blotches aren't there so like I said I thought they might just be stress marks...all other fish seem to be doing just fine...but yes the one that is sitting there vertically swimming has been doing that 3 days straight...sorry for the vertical vid
